Full Time: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Fixed Term Contract for 12 Months.
Location: Working across our retail estate. Based from Corsham / Winsley, Wiltshire

At Dorothy House Hospice Care, our retail shops and warehouse generate vital income that helps fund specialist end of life care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. As a Retail Maintenance Assistant, you'll play an important role behind the scenes, helping to maintain, repair and refurbish our retail estate across Wiltshire, ensuring our shops, warehouse and facilities remain safe, compliant and welcoming places for customers, volunteers and colleagues.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills within facilities maintenance, property maintenance, building repairs and retail estate management. No two days are the same, with opportunities to work across multiple locations, support refurbishment projects and help us make a real difference to our community.

WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?

As a Retail Maintenance Assistant, you will help maintain and improve Dorothy House's retail premises and warehouse facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance work across our retail estate and warehouse facilities
  • Completing repairs, refurbishment and improvement projects including painting, decorating, carpentry, sanitising and general building maintenance tasks
  • Using maintenance management systems to organise and manage daily workloads and schedules
  • Identifying, reporting and helping resolve maintenance issues to ensure sites remain safe and compliant
  • Travelling between Dorothy House sites across Wiltshire to support maintenance activities where required
  • Working closely with the Estates Team to deliver maintenance plans and business priorities
  • Supporting emergency responses and assisting with adverse weather duties, including snow clearance when required
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety across all working environments

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • Experience carrying out general maintenance, repairs or refurbishments in a workplace, commercial or domestic environment
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools and complete maintenance tasks to a good standard
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads, follow schedules and communicate progress effectively
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements and the ability to identify and report maintenance hazards
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience working across a multi-site maintenance environment such as retail, charity, facilities or property management
  • Practical skills or training in painting and decorating, carpentry, plumbing, PAT testing or general building repairs
