WHY THIS ROLE?
This role offers an opportunity to continue contributing to care on the IPU in a way that fits your experience and circumstances - whether you're building on your skills, moving across from another team, or looking to refocus on hands-on patient care.
As a Senior HCA, you will play a key role in day-to-day care while having greater involvement in communication, team support, and developing clinical skills. You will also have the opportunity to take on added responsibility, such as link roles and enhanced competencies.
Above all, this role is about continuing to make a meaningful difference to patients and those close to them as part of a supportive IPU team.
WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to patients, supporting their physical, emotional, social and psychological needs
- Work alongside Registered Nurses to contribute to assessment, care planning, and ongoing review of patient care
- Carry out delegated clinical tasks and develop enhanced HCA competencies (e.g. wound care, catheterisation, ECG, observations)
- Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions, ensuring timely communication within the team
- Provide support to families and carers, responding sensitively and sharing relevant updates with the nursing team
- Contribute to effective teamworking through clear communication, including handovers and accurate record keeping
- Support and guide others where appropriate, including colleagues, patients, carers and volunteers
- Take responsibility for managing your own workload, contributing to link roles, and maintaining safe, compliant practice
