VAN DRIVER TEAM LEADER | £26,462 per annum + annual bonus scheme
Full Time - 37.5 hours per week (5 days out of 7 - with some weekend working).
Location: Based from Corsham Warehouse
WHY THIS ROLE?
This is an exciting internal opportunity to lead one of Dorothy House's retail logistics teams. Our retail operation plays a vital role in funding compassionate, specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and our fleet service is at the heart of making that happen. As Van Driver Team Leader, you'll oversee a team of drivers, coordinate collections and deliveries, and help ensure stock moves efficiently across our retail estate.
Working closely with the Warehouse & Van Fleet Manager and fellow Team Leaders, you'll help drive operational excellence, support colleagues to succeed, and continually look for ways to improve our logistics service. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong people skills with a practical, hands-on approach and enjoys leading from the front.

WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?
- Leading and supporting a team of Van Drivers, ensuring collections and deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard of customer service
- Coordinating daily, weekly and reactive stock movement schedules across our retail estate
- Working collaboratively with other Van Driver Team Leaders to deliver a seamless logistics service
- Supporting the Warehouse & Van Fleet Manager with the recruitment, development and performance management of the driver team
- Monitoring vehicle compliance, reporting defects promptly and ensuring vehicles remain clean, safe and fully operational
- Supporting warehouse operations and stock movement activities when required
- Acting as a role model for customer service, professionalism and Dorothy House values
- Ensuring the Gift Aid scheme operates effectively by supporting compliance with donor data collection and GDPR requirements
- Identifying opportunities for operational improvements, efficiencies and income generation across the retail logistics operation
- Providing hands-on driving support when required to ensure service continuity across the fleet operation

ABOUT YOU
Please Note that only existing Dorothy House employees / volunteers are eligible to apply for this role.
This role is physically demanding and requires regular lifting, moving items, and being on your feet for extended periods. While full manual handling training will be provided and we commit to considering reasonable adjustments, applicants should be aware that the core duties of this role require a high level of physical activity.
Essential requirements:
- Holds a full UK driving licence with the ability to drive 3.5T vehicles and confidently undertake collection and delivery duties as part of day-to-day operations.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead and support a team, providing direction and ensuring operational standards are maintained.
- Ability to organise and coordinate workloads, deliveries and stock movement across multiple locations.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills when interacting with donors, customers, volunteers and colleagues.
- Experience working in a physically active environment - involving stock movement and manual handling
Desirable requirements:
- Experience using route planning, logistics scheduling or stock management systems.
- Experience supporting or managing volunteers within a retail or charity environment.
