We are excited to be seeking a skilled Research Fellow who will work as part of our Education and Research Team.

RESEARCH FELLOW - Fixed Term until April 2028 | £41,375.00 per annum

The successful applicant will work closely with the Chief Investigator (CI), the wider research team, and patient, partner, and bereaved public representatives. This will include leading rigorous PPI work, recruitment, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, report writing, and dissemination. They will be responsible for liaising with key stakeholders and establishing ways to demonstrate impact of this project. They will be working individually and as part of a team to achieve the project objectives and organisation strategy.

Some of the Research and Fellow Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deliver research project objectives with the support of the CI and research team. Conducts individual and collaborative research work and writes up research for publication.
  • Work collaboratively with patient and public contributors to ensure co-production principles are embedded.
  • Effectively communicate complex information, including material of a specialist or sensitive nature to colleagues, patients, carers, volunteers and external stakeholders. This may include making presentations at conferences, reports to funders, and peer reviewed publications.
  • Builds internal contacts and participates in internal networks to exchange information and to form relationships for future collaboration.
  • To maintain personal research awareness within the specialty of Palliative and End of Life Care and a working knowledge of research ethics.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a Full Time role - working 5 days a week. The position is fixed term until April 2028.

The role will be based at our Hospice in Winsley, Bradford on Avon, with hybrid working agreed.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • PhD in health, social care, psychology, or a related field
  • Understands how to conduct research using appropriate research techniques and implementing new research methods. Can demonstrate a commitment to continually update knowledge and understanding in field or specialism.
  • Possesses sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to deliver the research project.
  • Is skilled in effectively analysing, interpreting and presenting research data to generate outcomes. Can demonstrate an ability to apply research findings creatively to develop new areas of research.
  • Can effectively manage own workload, research resources and administrative activities.
  • Possesses highly effective communication skills to communicate complex information, orally and in writing, including making presentations at conferences.
  • Can create effective working relationships with colleagues and demonstrate an ability to build and participate in internal and external networks to enhance individual and hospice profile.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and reflection of, and appropriate action related to, equality, equity, inclusion and diversity.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in conducting palliative or end-of-life care research.
  • Experience in co-production, participatory research methods, or conducting health related interventions.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and managing health-related datasets
  • Experience working effectively with hospice organisations and health care professionals.
