Description

We are seeking a dedicated Line Cook to join the kitchen team at our hospice in Winsley. As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients, families, and staff. Your culinary skills will contribute to the overall well-being and comfort of our patients and visitors.

LINE COOK (Chef de Partie) | Band 3 £11.67 - £12.45 per hour, depending on experience

As a Line Cook, you will prepare, cook, serve and present food in a professional manner. You will assist the winder catering team to ensure our high standards are met, alongside maintaining the smooth running of our kitchen.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Being a representative of Dorothy House and its values at all times. Ensuring our patients and customers always have a positive experience with our catering services.
  • Liaising with staff such as Ward Hosts and Nurses in relation to our patients special dietary requirements.
  • To assist with the creation and implementation of new menus and dishes.
  • To prepare meals to the amounts forecasted, exercising the required level or portion control. Ensuring allergen information is available for all food produces.
  • To provide catering services at Dorothy House conferences and meetings.
  • To ensure workload is completed in a timely manner. Working as a team to support other catering colleagues as required.
  • To keep working areas and equipment to a high hygienic standard. Ensuring that good hygiene practices are observed in all catering tasks.

HOURS OF WORK

This role is a Part Time position. Working of 15 hours per week.
Due to the shift roles of the role, occasional weekend working will be required.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • Good standard of maths and English.
  • Experience working as a Kitchen Assistant (Commis) / working within a catering environment for more than 1 year.
  • Highly organised, and can work unsupervised to tight schedules and deadlines.
  • Effective team member with good prioritisation skills and a flexible work approach.
  • Good level of fitness to meet the physical requirements of the role.
  • Good communication skills. To confidently and passionately engage with the 'customers' of our catering service.


Desirable requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Catering and Hospitality / formal cooking qualification.
  • Experience working as a Line Cook (Chef de partie).
  • Active food hygiene certificate.
